* Reise, Reise
(27 September 2004)
Reise, Reise (German: "Journey, Journey" or "Travel, Travel") is Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein's fourth studio album. It was released on September 27, 2004 in Germany and followed shortly by its release across Europe. It was released in North America on November 16, 2004. It was in the Top 10 in several European charts and a #1 hit in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Iceland, Finland, Estonia and Mexico. The album ranked at #67 for Top 100 Albums of 2004 by Rate Your Music.
As used in "Reise, Reise aufstehen! Kommt hoch nach alter Seemannsart", the album name is an old sailor's expression to waken other sailors, hence the translation of the title would be "Arise, Arise", as seen in the song of the same name. Given Rammstein's propensity to use puns, a double meaning could well be intended, as the direct translation is "Journey, Journey".
Album art
The album art shows a damaged airplane flight data recorder depicted on the front and back covers. Its caption ("Flugrekorder, Nicht Öffnen") means "Flight Recorder, Do Not Open". The inner part of the Digipak edition case shows a picture of the six members in suits wielding suitcases and weapons leaving from a crashed airplane.
The cover art is an allusion to the song Dalai Lama, which deals with an airplane accident. It is also suggestive of the overarching 'travelling' theme of the album.
The airplane accident on which the album is based occurred on the August 12, 1985, nearly 20 years earlier. A Boeing 747, Japan Airlines Flight 123 took off from Haneda airport, Tokyo, and about 30 minutes later, crashed into the side of a mountain. 520 out of the 524 passengers and crew died, and as of 2008 it is still the deadliest single aircraft disaster in history.
The song "Reise, Reise" itself contains a recording of the last 40 seconds of the flight in which the onboard computer is warning "Pull up! Pull up!" and the pilots shout in panicked Japanese, however, on the European pressings, the track has to be rewound before the 0:00 mark to be heard. On the US release, the recording is the beginning of "Reise, Reise".
Track listing
1. "Reise, Reise" 4:12
2. "Mein Teil" 4:32
3. "Dalai Lama" 5:38
4. "Keine Lust" 3:42
5. "Los" 3:42
6. "Amerika" 3:46
7. "Moskau" 4:17

10. "Ohne dich" 4:32

* Rosenrot
(28 October 2005)
Rosenrot (German: "rose-red", listen) is the German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein's fifth musical album. It was released on October 28, 2005 in Germany, December 6, 2005 in Canada, and March 28, 2006 in the United States. A limited edition with a bonus DVD is also available.
The album includes six unreleased songs from Reise, Reise that had been omitted for artistic reasons, and five completely new ones. It was originally going to be titled Reise, Reise Volume Two, but on August 18, 2005 the album was announced as Rosenrot.
The cover art is nearly identical to the Japanese import of Reise, Reise. The image is a slightly altered photograph of the icebreaker USS Atka, taken on March 13, 1960 at McMurdo Station, Ross Ice Shelf, Antarctica.
While Rammstein did not actively promote this album, the band built anticipation through a variety of means. The first single from the album, "Benzin", premiered at the Berliner Wuhlheide and was subsequently released on disc. Rammstein's official website featured one-minute samples from six of the tracks, and had featured a prominent release-date countdown. A brief section of the chorus from "Rosenrot" plays in the background of an e-card containing photographs of the band and basic album information.
Track listing
1. "Benzin" 3:46
2. "Mann gegen Mann" 3:51
3. "Rosenrot" 3:55
4. "Spring" 5:25
5. "Wo Bist Du" 3:56

Live albums
* Live aus Berlin
(31 August 1999)
Live aus Berlin (German for "Live from Berlin" or "Live out of Berlin") is a recording of a concert by the German NDH-metal band Rammstein in 1998. It has been released in several formats:
* CD (15 tracks)
* 2 CD Limited Edition (18 tracks + multimedia content)
* Censored Video/DVD (Without Bück dich)
* Uncensored Video (With Bück dich)
There is no uncensored DVD version of Live aus Berlin. However, the song "Bück dich" can be found on the Internet.
The performance of "Bück dich" ("Bend down", "Bend over") is controversial. The portrayal of anal sex using a water-squirting dildo led to the video being given an 18 certificate in Europe. The act led to the lead-vocalist Till Lindemann and keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz being arrested during the Family Values Tour in the U.S. in 1998.

(31 August 1999)
Live aus Berlin (German for "Live from Berlin" or "Live out of Berlin") is a recording of a concert by the German NDH-metal band Rammstein in 1998. It has been released in several formats:
* CD (15 tracks)
The act led to the lead-vocalist Till Lindemann and keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz being arrested during the Family Values Tour in the U.S. in 1998.

* Völkerball
(17 November 2006)
Völkerball (German for "Peoples' ball") is the German NDH-metal band Rammstein's live album/DVD set. It was released on November 17, 2006 in Europe, December 19, 2006 in Canada, and on September 18, 2007 in the U.S. The album was advertised within media by the Ich will live video featured on the DVD and Mann gegen Mann single.
Dates for India, Israel and Turkey are listed on the official site, although they are yet to be confirmed. The release date for Japan has not been revealed, and there has been no mention if all 3 versions will be available. Due to the very limited printing of the Limited Edition and the high demand, Völkerball sold out and more copies of it had to be produced. Interestingly, the phrase "To Be Continued" is printed on the back page of the Völkerball booklet.
The standard edition-packaging comes in both CD-sized and DVD-sized formats. The special edition features 2DVDs and 1 CD. The extra DVD comes with the documentary 'Anakonda Im Netz' and the 'Making Of Reise, Reise album'. The limited edition has 2 DVDs, 2 CDs and a photobook.
Name
Völkerball is the German name for the game of dodge ball. Literally it means Peoples' Ball. One could also think that the combination of the word Ball, being a dancing event like English ball or prom, in connection with Peoples and relating to the musical act Rammstein, means Dancing/Musical event of (all) peoples.
