The New Order is the second album by the thrash metal group Testament, released on May 10, 1988 (see 1988 in music). It is the album that broke Testament into the rock mainstream, with singles "Trial by Fire" (which featured a music video, as did "Nobody's Fault") and "The Preacher". This success would only grow with their next album Practice What You Preach.

Practice What You Preach is the third album by thrash metal band Testament, released in 1989 (see 1989 in music). It has been rumored that each song was recorded live in-studio with little-to-no overdubs. The album's lyrical themes are more about politics and society than the occult themes of the band's previous two albums. The title track of this album was a moderate mainstream rock hit, which featured a music video that gained substantial MTV airplay. "Practice What You Preach" reached #77 on the American music charts.

The style presented on this album is similar to Metallica's "Black Album," due to the band playing at slower song tempos and the guitar tone played in a more traditional metal style.

Low (1994)

Low is the sixth album released by Testament in 1994. It is the first album without guitarist Alex Skolnick or drummer Louie Clemente, who were replaced by James Murphy and John Tempesta, respectively.
The band experimented with a large number of influences. The most notable are the ballad, "Trail of Tears", and the death metal song, "Dog Faced Gods". This change was the main reason Atlantic Records terminated their contract with Testament, as they wanted them to continue with a more "mainstream" sound, but got this album instead.

Demonic is a death metal/thrash metal album by Testament, released in 1997. This album sees the band experimenting more with death metal and groove heavy rhythms, making this album one of their most intense. The lyrics also deal with occult themes more like their 80's efforts instead of the politic aspects.

The Gathering (1999)

The Gathering is the eighth album by thrash metal band Testament.

Stylistically, this is much faster, heavier, and more thrash metal-based than the previous album Demonic. The over-all sound and general lyrical tone is darker and more evil in scope than previous Testament albums. Chuck Billy uses some of his most aggressive vocal approaches: nary a melodic singing style is heard. He also stated the speed of the songs was also influenced by Eric Peterson's playing in his black metal side project, Dragonlord, which is why this album is more up tempo than the previous album.
This album also boasts an all-star cast, featuring James Murphy, Steve DiGiorgio, and Dave Lombardo with Peterson and Billy.
It reached # 41 of the German album charts.

xFirst Strike Still Deadly is an album released by Testament in 2001. It consists of re-recordings of songs released on The Legacy and The New Order, as well as a re-recording of a b-side from the "Trial By Fire" single ("Reign of Terror"). On some Japanese versions of this release, a different cover is present, and the disc is an Enhanced CD and includes a bonus QuickTime documentary with live clips of various incarnations of the band.

The Formation of Damnation (2008)

The Formation of Damnation is the confirmed title for Testament's ninth studio album, which will be released on April 29, 2008.[1][2] It is going to be the first album that Testament has released since 1999's The Gathering, although the band re-recorded some of their early material for 2001's First Strike Still Deadly. This will also be Testament's first release with original guitarist Alex Skolnick since 1992's The Ritual and bassist Greg Christian since 1994's Low.

The follow-up to The Gathering was first mentioned in 2002[3] and was originally due for release in early 2004,[4] but was not yet completed. Due to the band's touring schedule and many line-up changes, the album was set aside for a number of years before finally being completed in 2007/2008.
On March 21st 2008, eight tracks from the album leaked over the internet, the remaining tracks were leaked April 1st 2008.

Tempesta is then replaced by Clemente for the remainder of the show, giving the audience a reunited "Classic" Testament lineup. This was the third show of the 10 Days in May Tour. Backstage footage is included from May 12, 2005, Innsbruck, Austria date, among others.

is a compilation album released in 2007 by American thrash metal band Testament. The release consists of tracks from the Spitfire-era Testament titles Live at the Fillmore (actually re-released by Spitfire), Demonic (also a re-release by Spitfire), The Gathering, First Strike Still Deadly, and Live in London. Of note is the number of musicians present on this compilation; there are five different drummers (Louie Clemente, Jon Dette, Gene Hoglan, Dave Lombardo, John Tempesta), three different bassists (Greg Christian, Steve DiGiorgio, Derrick Ramirez), and four different guitarists (Glen Alvelais, James Murphy, Eric Peterson, Alex Skolnick), though Peterson appears on all tracks. Chuck Billy provides vocals on all tracks, but there are two guest vocalists: Steve Souza, who sang the last two tracks on the First Strike Still Deadly release, and Star Nayea, who provided supplementary vocals on the acoustic tracks on Live at the Fillmore.
