--------Studio albums--------

Bathory (1984)
Bathory is the debut album of the Swedish black metal band Bathory. It is considered one of the first recorded examples that defined the black metal style.
The original title for this album was "Pentagrammaton," but this title was discarded when several people read it as "Pentagon." The pentagram was moved to the back of the album cover and replaced with a goat face made up from several bits cut out from various horror comics.
It was first printed in 1000 vinyl copies, with a yellow goat instead of a white one. On the reissue of the CD in 1990, Storm of Damnation and the outro aren't mentioned in the tracklist

1. Storm of Damnation
2. Hades
3. Reaper
4. Necromansy
5. Sacrifice
6. In Conspirasy with Satan

The Return (1985)
The Return Of The Darkness And Evil is the second album by Bathory.

Quorthon explains the name:
"We wanted people to just read out "The return..." - as in a second album or a follow-up - and then flip the album over to look for a tracking list. Not finding one, what they got was this apocalyptic poem with the song titles woven into it. Only after listening through the album to the end would you get the full title of the album; THE RETURN OF THE DARKNESS AND EVIL."

Under the Sign of the Black Mark (1987)
Under the Sign of the Black Mark is the third album by Bathory. While it can hardly be classified as anything other than black metal, several tracks, most notably "Enter the Eternal Fire," displayed the group beginning to branch out into a more adventurous, epic territory. "Woman of Dark Desires" is a tribute to the band's namesake, Erzsébet Báthory, and has become one of their most recognized early tracks.

1. Nocternal Obeisance
2. Massacre
3. Woman of Dark Desires
4. Call from the Grave
5. Equimanthorn
6. Enter the Eternal Fire
7. Chariots of Fire

Blood Fire Death (1988)
Blood Fire Death is the fourth album by Bathory, which continued the transition towards more epic songwriting begun on the band's previous album. It is often considered to be the first work in the Viking metal genre, and it is also considered by many fans to be Bathory's finest work. The ninth track is not included on the cassette release.
The lyrics to "The Golden Walls of Heaven" and "Dies Irae" are acrostics: the first letters of each line form phrases, namely "SATAN" (repeated 8 times) and "CHRIST THE BASTARD SON OF HEAVEN," respectively.
The 1999 re-issue of the album In The Nightside Eclipse by Emperor contains a cover of "A Fine Day to Die", recorded during the Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk sessions.

Twilight of the Gods (1991)
Twilight of the Gods is the sixth album by Bathory. It continues the exploration of the newly created Viking metal style, and also displays a heavy classical influence; it is titled after an opera by Wagner, and the melody of "Hammerheart" is lifted from Gustav Holst's The Planets (more specifically, from the fourth movement, Jupiter). Originally this was to be the final Bathory album.

Blood On Ice (1996)
Blood on Ice is a concept album by the Swedish viking metal band Bathory. The master tapes were recorded in 1989, but the album was not immediately released, both because the album was never properly finished, and because founder and song-writer Quorthon was worried that it presented too drastic a departure from the band's previous black metal sound. It was eventually released, after re-mastering and re-editing on more advanced studio equipment, in 1996, partly through fan-pressure resulting from his mentioning of the project in an interview. Quorthon expands on this, as well as more specific matters about the recording of Blood on Ice and many of the other early Bathory albums in his liner notes for this release. The album's plot follows ideas and formats typical of the sagas, but was written by Quorthon himself. The album cover is drawn by Kristian Wåhlin.

2. "Blood on Ice" – 5:41

Destroyer of Worlds (2001)
Destroyer of Worlds is the tenth full-length album release by Bathory. It takes its name from a famous quote by J. Robert Oppenheimer about the atomic bomb, "I am become death, destroyer of worlds," which was itself mistakenly quoted from a verse in the Bhagavad Gita [1]. Stylistically, Destroyer of Worlds is a cross between the Viking metal of Bathory's 1988-1991 period and the retro-thrash metal of Requiem and Octagon, as can be heard in "Bleeding", "109", "Death from Above", "Liberty & Justice", and "Kill Kill Kill".

It is characterized by an unapologetic return to the Viking metal of Bathory's middle period, and features songs written mainly about Viking warfare. Music videos

1990 "One Rode to Asa Bay"
The Song
"One Rode To Asa Bay" is a song by Bathory about the Christianization of Scandinavia and appears on the 1990 album Hammerheart.

Italian metal band Opera IX have made a cover version of this song as well as German metal band Mystic Circle, also it was covered instrumentally by Folk/Viking Metal band Folkvang

Quorthon dedicated the song to C. Dean Andersson, who had earlier sent some of his books to Quorthon. The village's name in the song, Asa Bay, comes from pseudonym Asa Drake which Andersson used in some of his books.

Music Video
The music video was filmed in Norway to complement the story idea of the song. The video contains scenes of the band performing and a back story of settlers bringing a new religion to the land. The singer/guitar player for Bathory, Quorthon, paid $5,000 out of his own pocket to a man to film the music video. Quorthon explained, "I have never seen it and I didn’t get to see any of the 60 hours of film we had worked on for several weeks." He elaborated, "the guy who was responsible for the whole filming just went on holiday once the last shot was made and he was unheard from and impossible to reach." After several months later "he eventually did send us something," but it was 18 minutes of the 60 hours that were filmed. Meanwhile, it was assumed "the rest of the material is probably erased" and the final product was to remain the edited video that did not represent Quorthon's song idea. Ultimately, it became the first and last video Bathory would make. Even so, the video received play of MTV's Headbanger's Ball, which got Quorthon interviewed on MTV and introduced the band to American audiences. The video has only been available as a bootleg until 2006, when Black Mark Records released a tribute to Quorthon which contains a DVD with Quorthon footage and the video itself.
